The country lost five consecutive seasons in air pollution trials including Osaka Nishiyodogawa. Every time I read the results of a large-scale health impact survey conducted by the country, I have decided to consider whether to create a relief system. The survey results were announced in 2011 (SORA project), and it became clear that air pollution by automobile exhaust gas causes diseases such as asthma. Nevertheless, the government did not try to set up the system, and recently air pollution has been improved, and it is said that it does not reach the setting up of the system.
However, once there is a disease such as asthma, there is no cure for the root, so the reality is that there is no choice but to continue treatment. Although air pollution has been improved in recent years, patients who have been affected since the previous period of heavy pollution have suffered for many years and are still being treated. In fact, according to the questionnaire for people who are eligible for the asthma medical expenses subsidy program that has been implemented in Tokyo since 2008, it has become clear that the average onset year is around 1990 and there are many patients who have suffered for many years. Contamination improvement in recent years is not a reason to refuse relief.
